Description
A new non-destructive evaluation method for topcoat delamination of thermal barrier coatings using laser beam heating has been developed. This method is based on the active thermography technique. This method was applied to the disk shaped TBC samples that had been introduced artificial delamination under the topcoat, and the identification accuracy of this method was evaluated. As the results of that, this method could successfully identify the delamination by detecting the peak temperature that is observed on the topcoat surface. The thermal wake of the laser beam heating that was caused by the delamination could also be applied to the high accuracy identification.
