This study will focus on local bridges and history of civil engineering in order to improve students' learningmotivation and to promote the construction field. A questionnaire on the names of bridge engineers was carried out on thestudents. The necessity of education on the history of civil engineering was examined by use of questionnaires and reportsby students. In addition, the bridge questionnaire was conducted by showing photographs of bridges local to Tokushima tostudents. Students were lectured on the outlines of local bridges and their engineers. The improvement in learningmotivation and the promotion of the construction field were considered by analyzing the students' reports and theirquestionnaire answers. As a result, it can be concluded that many students want to study the history of civil engineeringand showed an increased interest in bridges and in construction field following the questionnaire.
