Description

Dr. I. Ohga published his report "The Flora on the Campus of Tokyo Woman's Christian University" in 1935. The botanical names of 421 species were recorded in that comprehensive work. Since then, however, 59 years have passed. Meanwhile, needless to say, there have been various changes. There has been a considerable transfiguration of our campus as a result of the confusion of World War II and the subsequent expanding of the urban population; the environment of the campus has been gradually changed, day by day. Nevertheless, the authors have established that 640 species blessedly still exist on our campus. They are listed in this paper. There are as many plant species as in the past, and some newly introduced ones are also to be seen.
