Recent technology and science have made great advances. Working conditions of modern machineries, products, etc. have also become severer. In materials processing and fabrication, more advanced automation and computer aided manufacturing systems are introduced. These have demanded that materials processing including welding and cutting should be more precise, hybrid and intelligent. Progress of computer technology in the last three decades has brought remarkable changes in the methods of scientific research. Welding research is not an exception and computers have become indispensable tools in it. Recent numerical analysis in welding field, such as convection in arc weld pool, hydrogen diffusion in welds, residual stresses etc., has been developed.
