Description
We consider nonuniform and lossless distributed circuits (transmission lines or lines, for short) with distributed inductance L(x) and distributed capacitance C(x) per unit length. Equivalence condition for two different lines is disussed and we propose a transformation method which enables us to obtain equivalent lines from arbitrarily given one. The method is called expansion and contraction transformation. Moreover, we discuss equivalence relation between transmission lines and quantum mechanical scattering systems. It is clarified that transmission lines correspond to quantum mechanical scattering systems with constant potential.
