1. The elevated level of tryptophan peroxidase activity at 5 hours after injection of L-tryptophan fell to half-value within 2 to 3 hours.<br> 2. There was the increased turnover rate of cytoplasmic RNA as evidenced by 3-fold of 2-C14-glycine incorporation at 4 hours after L-tryptophan administration. After 9 hours, 2-C14-glycine incorporation into cyto-plasmic RNA returned to basal level. The stimulation of 2-C14-glycine incorporation into liver protein was 2-fold of the normal rate at 4 hours after L-tryptophan administ-ration, and after 9 hours 2-C14-glycine in-corporation into liver protein approached its basal rate.<br> 3. The turnover rate of heme fraction was 2.5-fold at 4 hours after L-tryptophan administration, and after 9 hours approached the normal rate.<br> 4. Like 2-C14-glycine incorporation, in-organic P32 incorporation into cytoplasmic RNA elevated at 3 hours after L-tryptophan administration, and after 5 hours an incorpor-ation was towards its basal rate.<br> 5. A certain activation of tryptophan peroxidase by the increased heme fraction existed in vivo in spite of the inhibition of liver protein synthesis.<br> 6. A little induction of tryptophan per-oxidase by a non-specific stimulation of syn-thesis was raised by an administration of es-sential amino acid in vivo.
