Description
This paper describes design and performance of a phase compensated filter and its application to burst carrier recovery for TDMA communications. Since the proposed filter has the flat phase-frequency characteristics around the center frequency, it can reduce the recovered carrier phase error due to inter-burst frequency error. The amplitude and phase responses of the proposed filter are analyzed and the computer simulation confirms the analysis and the performance improvement. This paper also presents the proposed filter can be designed like PLL in terms of transient and noise performance. In addition, this paper proposed a design method to improve the phase-frequency characteristics of the proposed filter.
