Description
This paper describes how to provide inter-domain stream-message-integrated communication over broadcast-and-select WDM networks, and then to make such a network IP-compatible. Assuming a single-layer architecture, we show that a country-wide network can be constructed by interconnecting many B&S WDM networks in a regular topology such as a hypercube. To support IPv4/IPv6, we propose an IP-bypass technology, which is important in early stages when WDM networks come into use. A native implementation is also possible to derive the full advantage of B&S WDM networks.
