Description
Human behaviour can be interpreted as an integrated multi-modal activity to adapt to changing environment. Starting from a non-trivial correlation between auditory localization acuity and vision, various examples, activa nature of auditory system, auditory and visual interaction in speech perception, interactions between speech perception and production, and plasticity in foreign language acquisition, provide evidence that auditory system is an indispensable part of an integrated environment analysis system. A deep understanding on these integral, interactive and active nature of our multi-modal characteristics will be a key for designing interactive systems for humans.
