Description

The composition and contents of neutral and acidic saponins of Chinese and Japanese wild ginseng were analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography and two-dimensional thin layer chromatography. There was no significant difference in the major saponins between wild and cultivated speciments. It is noteworthy that the content of ginsenoside-Ro, the glucuronide saponin of oleanolic acid, is remarkably high in the rhizome and main root of Chinese wild ginseng.
