説明
1. The acetaldehyde formation of the perfusion liver from fructose, glucose and lactose in a fasting condition or under proteinfat diet is less than the acetaldehyde formation of the liver under a normal diet. Furthermore, the rate of decrease is generally proportional to the length of the fasting.
2. In dogs poisoned with carbon tetrachloride, the acetaldehyde formation of the perfusion liver from these three forms of sugar show a sharp decline. This decline is especially marked when contrasted with the results of fasting and protein-fat diet.
3. Of these three forms of sugar, fructose promotes a greater acetaldehyde formation than glucose or lactose.
4. In impaired liver the acetaldehyde formation from glycogen is greater than under normal diet.
5. The amount of acetaldehyde formation in the perfusion liver depends upon the type of sugar given, but as regards the acetaldehyde formation in damaged livers, glycogen and fructose are most beneficial.
6. The decrease in acetaldehyde formation of impaired liver is not due solely to the diminution of decomposition of the innately present glycogen of the liver. In all probability, there is a decline in the functional ability of the liver itself.
7. According to the results of cross experiments, the decrease in the acetaldehyde formation of livers under fasting, protein-fat dieting and carbon tetrachloride poisoning is due to the decline of the functional ability of the liver itself and not to the qualitative changes of the perfused blood.
In closing I wish to express my deepest appreciation to my esteemed teacher, Prof. Dr. Kageura, for his kind efforts in directing my endeavours. I wish also to express my gratitude to Dr. Hara for his kind assistance.
