Activation Energies for Electrode Reaction of Metal Hydride in Alkaline Aqueous Solution

Description

Electrolyses by a TiMn1.5Hx electrode in alkaline aqueous solution were carried out at various temperatures under constant-current and constant-potential conditions. The electrode resistance increased with decreasing temperature. The activation energies for the charge transfer process and for the diffusion of hydrogen were obtained. The increase in electrode resistance with decreasing temperature was attributed largely to the temperature dependence of the charge transfer rate rather than to that of the diffusion rate of hydrogen.
