The speed of sound (SOS) through calcaneus using ultrasound is often used as a simple method for evaluating osteoporosis. But, it is not yet diagnose the osteoporosis precisely. In this paper, after attaching the focussed probe and the normal probe to the both sides of heel, the soft tissue width in heel was measured by the echo reflected from the calcaneus, and then the SOS through heel was measured by the multi-echo reflected from the heel. The real SOS through calcaneus was derived from these results. Moreover, the normal probes were used as usual method for measuring the SOS through calcaneus. The real SOS through calcaneus obtained by the focussed probe is about 70m/s larger than that of the normal probe.
