Description
Educational goals of Kanazawa Institute of Technology ( henceforth, KIT) are to enhance the creativity of students and to cultivate flexibility as engineering professionals. In 1996, KIT created new introductory engineering design courses. The engineering design courses are characterized by the project-based learning in which students creatively identify issues and actively integrate wide-ranging knowledge in the process of solving problems. Engineering design courses represent the main pillar of our engineering educational efforts at KIT.This paper discusses the outline of the engineering design education at KIT, the introductory engineering design courses, improvements on teaching approaches to the courses and their educational effects.
