A 3G-Cellular Phone(IMT-2000)will be introduced in the market at the year of 2001, which will kick off an era of global multimedia communication service. The panel discusses MPEG4-LSI design that is one of the key technology for the multimedia communication. Because of the amazing increase of integrated device count on a single die, the enhancement of software processing ability by a processor power increase and wide-ranging various applications, we can take so many MPEG4 VLSI architecture variation. The panel analyzes technical requirements from each application field and discuss optimum architectures and algorithms in the view point of low power and high performance implementations/
