Description
We proposed a mathematical model for lateral inhibition mechanism which has the following features; (a) it is scale invariant and stable for wide variety of input stimuli, (b) it adjusts the non-linear S-potential response to near-linear response by our reverse-S-shape transformation, and (c) it performs a natural but powerful image enhancement. We have shown new algorithms for image enhancement and edge detection based on our mathematical model. Experimental results and discussions are also included in this report.
