Abstract

A 73-year-old woman with hepatitis C presented with a 9-month history of mutiple papillomatous lesions that had developed gradually in the oral cavity. Histopathological examination confirmed a diagnosis of oral florid papillomatosis. The patient was first treated with photodynamic therapy (PDT) using 5-aminolevulinic acid with moderate effect. However, a partial remission had occurred and a follow-up treatment with a combination of PDT and oral etretinate was effective. There has been no recurrence over 5 months.
