Description

Binding capacity of various dietary fibers to sodium taurocholate was investigated. (1) 20mg of each dietary fiber from different sources was incubated for 2hrs. at 37℃ in 2ml phosphate buffer (pH7.4) containing 0.5μ mole of sodium taurocholate. (2) Adsorbing capacity of stored or heated dietary fiber to taurocholate was lower than that of non-treated dietary fiber. (3) The binding capacity of cholestyramine or inulin was lowered as the amounts of casein in the solution were increased. On the other hand, the capacity was elevated when the levels of starch was high (60 or 100mg) in the solution. In spite of different levels of mineral mixtures, the binding ability was not changed. It is suggested that adsorbing capacity of dietary fibers to bile acid is affected by the concomitants in the solution. (4) Adding cholestyramine and chitosan to the solution simultaneously, the capacity was equal to that of cholestyramine or chitosan alone. Synergistic effect of cholestyramine and chitosan on the binding of taurocholate was not observed.
