説明
To evaluate the various preparation forms for the cast rest seat on the lingual surfaces of abutment teeth, human extracted teeth were bonded together with the cast rest seats using adhesive resin cement and also glassionomer cements. They were then subjected to compression stress tests, and the dislodging forces were measured. The results were as follows. 1. In maxillary canine teeth, the dislodging forces were significantly greater in the casts bonded with abutment teeth which were given mechanical supportive forms using the adhesive resin cement when compared to that of the control teeth which used glassionomer cement. Nevertheless it was not as significantly noticed as among the abutments given no retention forms. Among the retention forms, the dislodging forces were significantly greater in the groove, ledge and pin-hole preparation forms. 2. In maxillary canine teeth after thermocycles tests, the dislodging forces were significantly greater only in the grooved, ledged and pin-holed preparation forms which used adhesive resin cement and were overall greater than those in the control teeth. 3. In lower incisors, which have smaller supportive areas, sufficient dislodging forces were also confirmed to be obtained by the groove, ledge and pin-hole in the preparation forms. 4. A preparation form with a groove, ledge and pin-hole was clinically applied to four patients. Their clinical cases were uneventful, without pulp irritation or secondary caries formation. The results of this study suggest that the groove, ledge and pin-hole formation in the abutment is desirable when casts given a cingulum rest seat are applied using adhesive resin cement.
