Description
Traditional natural language processing assumes an ideal situation where all input sentences are grammatically correct. However, in real life sentences, especially in spoken utterances, this assumption is hardly acceptable. Robust processing of natural language is quite important for any practical setting of natural language systems for coping with grammatically ill-formed inputs. This article surveys the currently proposed techniques for robust natural language processing and highlights the research issues. We also introduce our research efforts in this field.
