Description

The threshold of the psychoacoustic combination tones was measured using a sweep tone paradigm in which ascending sweep tones and a static pure tone were presented as promaries and the subjects were only required to detect descending sweep tones. When f_1 and f_2 were lower than 6kHz, 40dBSPL was enough to elicit the combination tones. The threshold increased rapidly as f_1 and f_2 exceeded 16kHz and no combination tone was observed when f_1 and f_2 were higher than 20kHz.
