抄録

A new joint system named elastic-hinge joint system by the authors is proposed. This new joint system performs in a non-linear elastic restoring force-rotation relation and is self-centering. These abilities can control damage and reduce permanent structural distortion in structures or in structural elements after a severe earthquake. A story-through type of elastic-hinge joint system, type ST, is proposed in this paper. Strands of this type run through parallel to whole beams composing a floor. This paper develops analytical method proposed by the last papers for analyzing steel structure frames with this new type joints. Analysis using this improved method is performed on 1-story, 1-bay steel frame with elastic-hinge joints under linear static load.
