Description
A 37 year-old man developed a high fever (temperature>38°C) and diffuse disseminated erythema with many small pustules after he had taken an hydroxyzine pamoate (Atarax®P). In the laboratory data, neutrophilic leukocytosis and increased CRP were found. Histopathological examination of his left palm revealed subcorneal pustules and perivascular infiltration of neutrophils, lymphocytes and eosinophils. The result of a patch test with Atarax®P(10%pet) was positive and a drug-induced lymphocyte stimulation test for Atarax®P was negative. Oral administration of Atarax®P induced diffuse erythema on his whole body. From these findings, we diagnosed this case as AGEP due to Atarax®P.
