説明

Gastropods associated with sunken wood collected from bathyal depths of Suruga Bay by the research project conducted during 1993-1996 by National Science Museum, Tokyo, are examined taxonomically. Twenty one species are recognized in total and assigned to 13 genera in eight families. Two families (Hyalogyrinidae and Xylodisculidae) and eight genera (Coccopigya, Dillwynella, Bathyxylophila, Leptogyropsis, Ponderinella, Nozeba, Hyalogyrina and Xylodiscula) are reported for the first time from the northwestern Pacific. Twelve new species are described as follows : Cocculina tenuitesta, Cocculina surugaensis, coccopigya okutanii (Cocculinidae); Copulabyssia similaris (Pseudococculinidae); Dillwynella vitrea, Dillwynella planorbis, Dillwynella fallax, Dillwynella seishinmaruae, Leptogyropsis inflata (Skeneidae); Ponderinella major (Vitrinellidae); Nozeba lignicola (Iravadiidae); Hyalogyrina depressa (Hyalogyrinidae). In addition, Cocculina punctoradiata Kuroda & Habe, 1949 was transferred to Coccopigya, and Cocculina subcingulata Kuroda & Habe, 1949 to Pseudococculina.
