Description
We demonstrated a narrowband low-crosstalk tunable filter that features triple-stages located side by side and comprised film-loaded waveguides and optical waveguide reflectors. Since a film-loaded waveguide can effectively confine SAW power in the narrow region, the AOTFs can be located close together. The polarization-independent waveguide reflectors that connect the AOTFs can be fabricated by Ti-diffusion process. These new techniques enable the integration of AOTFs while keeping a long interaction length on one tip.A narrow 3 dB-bandwidth of 0.37 nm was obtained along with a sidelobe of-28 dB for the drop light and a low crosstalk of-37 dB for the through light. We believeb that this is the first report indicating the possibility of applying AOTFs to 0.8 nm spaced WDM systems.
