Abstract

We have challenged to clarify the problem of sound quality of digital audio systems focusing on the reproduction of the high order sensations. We have discovered that the reproduction of "atmospheric" depend on the polarity of AC power supply. To analyze this fact quantitatively, we have measured the difference between a signal that can reproduce "atmospheric" well and the other that can not reproduce well. We have discovered that the time distortion from 140 to 700nsec of expansion and contraction exist in an analogue output signal of CD Player, and that the longer the time distortion the poorer the reproduction of "atmospheric".
