抄録

A method for optimal design of power transmission pylons is presented with minimization of the square sum of their natural periods of vibration in this paper. The total volume (or weight) of the structural materials should be kept constant. A pylon should be designed that the contribution of unity volume of materials for any member to the natural periods of vibration for the whole structure is wtth a constant value. This also means that a stiffer pylon is designed to improve its response. The structural problem is formulated by using the matrix displacement method. The optimum section is mathematically treated as extreme value in the variational problem. In the computing program, the slenderness ratio of each member is also constrained to be less than the allowable value.
