Description
This paper deals with a buckling and a self excited oscillation of an axially moving continua. This system experiences a Coriolis acceleration and a axial compressive force. Because of the Coriolis term of the equation of motion, each eigen mode cannot be expressed by a term of Fourier series. In the analysis, two terms approximation is employed for examining the fundamental characteristics of the above phenomena. The variation of the eigenvalue of the system with the traveling speed is depicted and the static and dynamic stabilities are theoretically clarified.
