Description
An experimental study on the relationship between the renin granules in the juxtaglomerular apparatus of the kidney and intrarenal angiospasm was performed in two kinds of conditions, hemorrhagic hypovolemic shock and Noradrenaline injection. Eighteen adult rats were employed. The rats were devided into five groups : Group I and II, by the removal of 2 ml of blood. Group III and IV, by the removal of 5 ml of blood. Group V, with Noradrenaline injection (0.18 ml). At 5 minutes (group I and III) and 10 minutes (group II, IV and V) after the manipulation, the kidneys were removed and examined by the light microscope and by the electronmicroscope on renin granules and intrarenal arteries. The vasoconstriction rate (Takeuchi) as an indication of angiospasm in the interlobular and lobar arteries was examined in relation to the renin granules. In group V (Noradrenaline) angiospasm was remarkable in lobar arteries. In the group of hypovolemic shock angiospasm was much more predominant in the interlobular arteries. Renin granules were decreased in the hypovolemic shock group. That was more pronounced at 5 minutes than at 10 minutes. In conclusion the perinuclear vacuoles of the intrarenal arterial smooth muscle cells are of the morphological substantiation for angiospasm, and renin granules of the juxtaglomerular apparatus were variegated by the degree and location of the intrarenal angiospasm.
