Description
The intra-and inter-lingual interferences were investigated using Stroop color naming task. The Japanese students named the colors of patches, and Japanese and English color words which were written in incongruent color. The subjects were also asked to name the color words written in the second foreign languages which they have learned for eight months. Intra-language interference was found to be the highest for Japanese color words, whereas it decreased in English. As for the second languages, the interferences were especially found to be weak. However, the effect of the similarity of the language on Stroop phonemenon was found; Chinese largely interferenced with Japanese, on the other hand, German mostly interferenced with English.
