Abstract
We provided school lunch for preschool children; with the energies of 405kcal, 450kcal, and 495kcal for 3 years old, 4 years old, and 5 years old of the sample, respectively. We studied the relationship between age and Net Energy Intake, by checking the energy of leftovers, and evaluated the energy of the lunch provided to the sample. Results: (1) The average Net Energy Intake of the sample was 410kcal, which was less than the National Recommendation by 23%. (2) The Net Energy Intake for 3 years old of the sample was significantly lower than those for 4 & 5 year-olders (p<0.01). (3) The Net Energy Intake only from side dishes for 3 year-olders was significantly smaller than those for 4 & 5 years old of the sample. The rate of leftovers in side dishes for 3 year-olders was significantly higher than those for 4 & 5 years old of the sample. (4) Judging from the sample's weight, Kaup Index, and National Standard for weight, we concluded that the Net Energy Intake of the sample for our school lunch was appropriate.
