Description
This paper discusses spectral features of biphonic singing "Khoomij". The analysis results for five types of Khoomij show that acute peaks corresponding to the higherpitch voice in the spectra are the common features. The analysis of Japanese vowels in Khoomij singing then clarifies that phonemic properties are determined by the first and second formant frequencies. Finally, the analysis of the spectral features of Khoomij in which the pitch of the higher-pitch voice is gradually varied shows that it is difficult to vary smoothly the pitch of the higher-pitch voice due to harmonic structures of spectra.
