説明
Rolls-Royce Industrial Avon, Mk.1533-52L, serial number 37126, was installed at the Esso oil refinery at Milford Haven in 1968, as part of an electrical generating package supplied by A.E.I. (now G.E.C.). This package also provided hot exhaust gases as the primary air feed for a Pipestill furnace/steam generator combination, thus providing heat and steam for process applications. Since commissioning, this package has accumulated 104,024 hours running, with over 93,000 hours of this using the package's own Avon, 37126. During this time there have been several long non-stop periods of operation, including a recent run of 6096 hours on one start. This paper presents a history of the 14 years operation and shows how the reliability and flexibility of the Avon allowed the package to remain economically viable through the changes in world energy price structures through the 1970's.
