Description
For application of multicasting to critical areas such as electronic commerce, stock information delivery and electronic newspaper delivery, reliable multicast communication protocols are crucial and much research has been conducting in this field. In this paper, a new, adaptive TCP multicast system using generic router assist (GRA) and multicast tree segmentation is proposed as a reliable multicast system operable over existing TCP. Through simulations it is clarified that the throughput of the proposed multicast system can be maintained at a high level and any performance degradation due to bandwidth bottleneckes are limited to the multicast tree below the bottleneck link.
