Description
Failure diagnosis method of machining is needed to the automated machining process. In this paper, we propose the failure diagnosis method by principal component analysis of dimensionless symptom parameters which indicate the characteristics of waveform of vibration and power spectrum. Resultant symptom parameters which are obtained by principal component analysis are defined as evaluation parameters of condition of machining. Versatile failure criterion which is independent of types of machine and operating conditions can be effectively set.
