Description
Although railway is said to be a eco-friendly transportation system, further energy saving is required in order to meet the demand for reducing environmental burden. In case of Shinkansen that runs at a high speed, it's important to reduce an energy loss resulted from a running resistance of the intermediate vehicles because the resistance occupies most of energy consumption. In this paper, we will report the running resistance reduction technique that we developed aiming at reducing energy loss of Shinkansen.
