説明

We report here an 11-years-old girl (Case 1) and a 13-years-old boy (Case 2) with severe root resorption in the maxillary right central incisor caused by ectopic eruption of the canine. The findings and treatment procedures were as follows : 1. The presumed causes of the root resorption of the maxillary right central incisor were the ectopic eruption of the canine, existence of supernumerary teeth, and the mesial position of the canine tooth germs. 2. In the two cases, congenitally missing teeth were seen. 3. In the two cases, after the central incisor and the supernumerary teeth were extracted, the canine was carefully guided into the position of the central incisor, and after pulp treatment temporary prosthesis were constructed. This treatment brought about satisfactory results either functionally or esthetically. 4. It is necessary to perform palpation and radiographic examination to prevent root resorption of central incisors due to ectopic eruption of canine when a patient reaches the age of around 10 year old.
