Description
We are discussing a time synchronous system using GPS and the application of ATM network to implement advanced electric power protection and control systems. This paper proposes a method for getting the time from GPS on user applications such as the above systems and made an experimental time synchronous system. We examined that a delay time which is read from GPS is about 4μs. This value satisfies the required accuracy of electric power protection system. ATM network could transmit the time information using NTP without large delay deviations, which means that NTP on ATM network is available for electric power control system.
