Description
In this paper, the slip strength of friction joint with 1000Mpa class ultra high strength steel (tensile strength : over 950MPa) and F 14T class high strength bolts is reported. Standard slip tests, slip tests for multiple bolts and bending test for beam joint were performed to evaluate slip coefficients for these friction joints and the influence of several parameters (the surface treatments, the work condition of shot-blasted surface, the bolt clamping force etc.). To ensure the slip coefficients usually exceed the minimum value 0.45 required by the AIJ Specifications for friction joints with 1000MPa class steel, the following surface treatments are used. 1) Rusted surface, 2) shot-blasted surfaces using the abrasive of which hardness over 715Hv, 3) shot-blasted surfaces treated with compressed air.
