Description
The author presented a case of a 26-year old female who has been suffering from depression associated with hyperventilative attack. She also, complained of nausea, sleep disturbance, loss of libido and lack of energy. Oral administration of amitriptyline in addition to perphenazine was started at 50mg per day and increased up to 75mg. By this approach, frequency and extent of hyperventilative attack was gradually decreased and clinical improvement was seen along with the administration of antidepressant. After 3 months' treatment, her attack was completely disappeared. From these results, it was thought that the hyperventilative attack of this case was a depressive equivalent type.
