Description

We report a 32-yr-old woman who came to a dental clinic with a dislocated jaw resulting from antipsychotic-induced acute dystonia. As strong muscle spasms made restoring the dislocation difficult, and led to upper airway obstruction and subsequent slight unconsciousness, a temporary oxygen and jaw-lift maneuver were needed. This rare case suggests that dentists also have to keep in mind treatment procedure for psychotic patients with such disorders as acute dystonia.
