Description
A visual system which estimates 3D structures of the world have difficulty with occlusion. In a binocular vision, there are the situations that one can see a region from one eye, but cannot see from another eye. The feature points on such binocularly unpaired region can only make false matches. From psychophysical experiments, it is suggested that the presence of occlusions is taken into consideration in early vision. We proposed a disparity estimating algorithms which takes the presence of occlusions into consideration. This algorithm is based on the Marr-Poggio's first algorithm. This algorithm can estimate disparities at unpaired regions by the knowledge about the occlusion geometry.
