This paper deals with vibration characteristics and dynamic stability analysis of the self-excited vibration of a thin film supported by an air turn bar with a slit. In this paper, unstable conditions of the self-excited vibration in consideration of dynamic characteristics of dancer rollers are examined by theoretical analysis and experiments. As a result, the calculated results of the unstable regions are compared with the experimental results, and qualitatively good agreement is seen between them. Moreover, it is theoretically and experimentally shown that unstable regions of the self-excited vibration become broader with decreasing the stiffness of dancer roller.
