Description
The roles played by modern posters are about to change in the midst of developing the media conveying various information coupled with the progress of the scientific technique. Originally, the posters have been developing by interacting with the art of paintings. In the early days, new trials of art were conducted rather by making posters with many painters joining in. In this way, the posters were complete on their own at that time. In these days, however, the productions of posters are carried out by the division of labor which is called "Art Director System." Therefore, poster designers are also required to act as art directors. The field of advertizing is being replaced by new forms of communication tools with the transformation of city functions and life styles. Taking this opportunity, we think it worthwhile that what is meant by poster designs should be analyzed by reviewing the past examples and reconstructed.
