During the process of cutting out a curvature on softwood through the use of numerical control router, torn grain frequently occurs at the portions where cutting is done against the grain. Method was conceived in order to avoid this torn grain. This method is especially effective in the case of cutting shapes that have symmetry. In the first process, cutting is done for the cutting-with-grain portion, then the material is reversed back-to-front along the axis of symmetry, and in the second process, cutting is repeated similar to that in the first processing step. Since cutting is done cutting-with-grain throughout the whole process from start to finish, it is possible to obtain a smoothly cut surface with almost no torn grain.
