Description
We observed THz radiation from a-axis oriented YBCO thin film for the first time. The radiation efficiency of electromagnetic pulses from a-axis oriented thin film is about one order magnitude larger than that from c-axis oriented thin film. It is shown that the transmission in a-axis oriented thin film is higher than that in c-axis oriented YBCO thin film by measuring millimeter wave transmittance for YBCO thin films using a Mach-Zender type interferometric spectrometer. we have deduced that the enhancement of radiation efficiency for THz radiation is due to the enhancement of transmittance for electromagnetic waves.
