Description

To carry out satellite communications experiments using the circuits of ETS-VI which has an elliptical orbit, that is, a subrecurrent orbit, in which the satellite turns around five times in three days, it is necessary to compensate the Doppler shift which is proportional to the constant distance change. We developed a non-geostationary satellite AFC system taking both open-loop control, which compensate the Doppler shift by calculating from orbital elements, and closed-loop control by observing a pilot signal every minute. We can thus control the Doppler shift to within ±100Hz and can carry out various communications experiments.
