Description

Attempts are made to explore the relationship between the scientific work of Sakata Shoichi (1911-1970), (leader of the Nagoya group of elementary particle theorists), and the philosophical framework or methodology underlying his work, by drawing upon the author's personal experience and historically tracing the development of the work of Sakata and his school. Critical analyses are also made of the formation of Sakata's methodology and its special connection with Taketani Mituo's three-stage theory of the cognition of matter.
