Description
In the Journal of Niijima Gakuen Women's Junior College No.22, I dealt with the English Bible translation works done from the year circa 1000 until 1526 in which William Tyndale's life and work were emphasized. This paper covers the history and the characteristics of English Bible translations after Tyndale until the publication of the Geneva Bible. They are Coverdale's Bible (1535), Matthew's Bible (1537), the Great Bible (1539), and the Geneva Bible (1560). Tyndale's work had great influence on the translators of these bibles; and then in turn, their work also exerted significant influence on the translation of the King James Bible.
