Description
Although the chaotic itinerancy observed in a chaotic neural network is an important phenomenon for studying an associative dynamics in real neurons, a mechanism of the occurrence is an open problem. We consider the network composed of four neurons, whose coupling coefficients are determined by weighted orthogonal stored patterns. Through numerical analysis of a perturbation system from direst sum of two identical subsystems, describing essential motions of the network, we found that the chaotic itinerancy occurs due to collapse of periodic in-phase attracting set.
